Deadline: Regional instructions and deadlines vary. See website for details.
Eligibility: Young artists and writers currently enrolled in grades seven through 12 at a public, private, parochial, or homeschool may submit work in a number of visual art and writing categories. Students initially submit their works to regional programs and can earn opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication and scholarships. Works designated as Gold Keys on the regional level are forwarded for national-level review where they can earn silver and gold medals. Judges look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill and the emergence of a personal voice and vision.
Award: In addition to providing recognition to national award-winning students, the alliance presents 15 Portfolio Gold Awards in art and writing for $10,000 and 30 Silver Portfolio with Distinction Awards for $1,000. National award-winning seniors who earn Gold Medals, American Visions & Voices Medals, Portfolio Silver Medals, or Portfolio Gold Medals may qualify for scholarships designated by the Alliance Scholarship Partners.
