Merit-based recruitment programs – loan forgiveness provisions for qualified state employment

Delaware Teacher Corps

Deadline: Submit the Scholarship Application by 4:30 p.m. June 1, 2017.

Eligibility:

  • Full-time students admitted into a teacher prep program at a Delaware college in an undergraduate or graduate program leading to teacher certification in a critical need area as defined by the Delaware Department of Education.
  • All applicants must have at least a 0 cumulative GPA.
  • Awards may be prorated for students enrolled part-time.

Award: Loan not to exceed cost of tuition. Renewable for up to three additional years. Loan forgiveness provision at a rate of one year of teaching in a Delaware public school for one year of loan.


Delaware Teacher Corps | University of Delaware’s Master’s Degree of Education in Exceptional Children and Youth degree Program.

Deadline: Submit the Scholarship Application by 4:30 p.m. April 28, 2017.

Eligibility:

  • Full-time students enrolled in the University of Delaware’s Master’s Degree of Education in Exceptional Children and Youth degree program.
  • Awards may be prorated for students enrolled part-time.

Award: Loan not to exceed cost of tuition. Renewable for up to three additional years. Loan forgiveness provision at a rate of one year of teaching in a Delaware public school for one year of loan.


Ada Leigh Soles Memorial Professional Librarian and Archivist Incentive Program

Deadline: Submit the Scholarship Application by 4:30 p.m. June 1, 2017. Must file Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by April 15, 2017.

Eligibility:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Program: Applicant must have worked at least two years at a Delaware public library, county department library, public school library, or state agency library or archive.
  • Master’s Degree Program: Full- or part-time students in an ALA-accredited master’s degree program of library and information science.
  • Doctoral Degree Program: Applicant must have worked at least two years at a Delaware public library, county department library, public school library, or state agency library or archive.
  • Academic record, community service, and financial need are considered for all applicants. Preference is given to current employees of a public library, country department library, public school library, or a state agency library or archive in Delaware. Loan forgiveness provision at a rate of two years of qualifying employment for one year of loan.

Award: Loan not to exceed cost of tuition, fees and other direct educational expenses. Renewable up to three additional years for undergraduates, one additional year for graduate students.
