- Sons and daughters of active duty, reserve, veteran, or deceased U.S. Marines who are high school graduates or undergraduates studying for a first bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree or technical certificate at an accredited college or vocational/ technical institution.
- Must have at least a 2.0 GPA.
- Maximum family adjusted gross income of $94,000 (increased if applicant’s sibling also applied).
Awards are based on family financial situation, academic performance, extracurricular activities, jobs held, the military service record of the Marine parent, and any additional circumstances which the applicant submits for consideration. Special consideration is given to applicants whose parents were wounded or killed in the line of duty. A program with limited eligibility for grandchildren is offered.
Award: Varies. Current recipients must reapply each year and are limited to four awards. Heroes Tribute Scholarships provide up to $30,000 over four years to students who are the children of Marines, and of former Marines, who were killed in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, or the children of Marines, and Navy Corpsmen serving with them, killed in combat since September 11, 2001.
